Shabby Chic Fall Banner Wreath Tutorial

Shabby Chic Fall Banner Wreath Tutorial

Hey friends! 🙂

Well, I’m still on the Shabby Chic For Fall kick, with no end in sight! 🙂 I came up with this banner wreath while I was working on my Shabby Chic Fall Entryway Bench post. The area to the left of the bench looked pretty empty. in the previous year, I used cornstalks in the milk can which filled up the area nicely, but I didn’t want to do the same thing again, so I had to come up with something new. And when I did, I thought: why not do a tutorial on it?

Shabby Chic Fall Banner Wreath Tutorial

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 4 – 6″ bamboo wreaths
  • 4 mini clothespins
  • 10′ x 1 1/2″ burlap ribbon
  • 10′ x 3/4″ lace ribbon
  • 3′ garden twine
  • white potpourri mix
  • 4 printed vintage letters to spell “fall”
  • 4 vintage style tags
  • Mod Podge
  • glue gun and sticks
  • white chalk paint
  • paint brushes

Here’s a pic of some of the items listed above. I was going to use the small chalkboards to spell out fall, but changed my mind. (You’ll find that I do that a lot.) 😉Shabby Chic Fall Banner Wreath Tutorial

Paint the bamboo wreaths and clothespins white. (Please excuse the extra wreaths; I was multicrafting.) In hindsight, it would have been MUCH easier to spray paint the wreaths with a matte paint rather than hand painting them, as it is very time consuming to paint the inside of the wreath. If you do paint these by hand, just to the best you can to cover everything, but don’t worry about getting it all- it’s pretty much impossible (and believe me; I tried).Shabby Chic Fall Banner Wreath Tutorial

Cut 3 pieces, 18″ each of the burlap ribbon and lace ribbon.Shabby Chic Fall Banner Wreath Tutorial

Lay out the 4 wreaths and loop them together using 1 piece each burlap and lace ribbon between the wreaths. Glue ribbons together using a glue gun.Shabby Chic Fall Banner Wreath Tutorial

Move each piece of overlapped ribbon to the top wreath and attach it to the wreath using the glue gun. Shabby Chic Fall Banner Wreath Tutorial

Turn wreath over and glue a clothespin at the top of each wreath.Shabby Chic Fall Banner Wreath Tutorial

Use what’s left of the burlap and lace ribbon to tie a bow for the bottom wreath, then glue or tie on. Glue on embellishments to the bottom of each wreath using a glue gun.Shabby Chic Fall Banner Wreath Tutorial

Tie garden twine on the top wreath by wrapping it around either side of the clothes pin and tying off above the wreath so it will hang straight.Shabby Chic Fall Banner Wreath Tutorial

Print out letters of your liking to spell “fall.” You can find the font I used here. Cut out and attach to the vintage tags using the Mod Podge and clip on the wreath using the clothespins.Shabby Chic Fall Banner Wreath Tutorial

Hang up and enjoy! 🙂Shabby Chic Fall Banner Wreath Tutorial

Please let me know what you think! 🙂

Happy Fall Shabby-ing!

Hi Michelle! I absolutely adore your door hanging! It’s fabulous! Such a great tutorial! I especially like the font you chose. Which font is that and where may I find it? I recently spray painted a wreath so I know what you mean. It’s much better to spray paint than hand paint. I still had to apply several coats to cover it well. Thanks for sharing! Blessings from Bama!
