Upcycled Fall Wreath

Upcycled Fall Wreath

Hey there! Welcome to this month’s edition of Thrifty Style Team hosted by Julie at Redhead Can Decorate! Thrifty Style Team is a group of uber-talented ladies who get together once a month to bring you thrifty DIY projects and decor inspiration that won’t break the bank!

My contribution to this month’s Thrifty Style Team is a upcycled fall wreath!

Now you may be asking yourself: what exactly makes this wreath upcycled? When I create seasonal decorations, I break them down again after the season is over to use the materials to create something different when the season comes around again. That way I am always displaying fresh decor every year for your inspiration.

Upcycled Fall Wreath

I started out with a basic twig wreath that I have reused in my decor several times already.

Upcycled Fall Wreath

I then went through my storage bin of previously used fall decor and found these leaf sprigs and berries. I bought them at Hobby Lobby last year (I think – may have been the year before). When I bought them they were full sized picks that I cut down to size to use in my decor last year. I used the leaf sprigs in a wreath and I don’t remember what I used the berries for.

Upcycled Fall Wreath

I sorted out the leaf sprigs by size to make it easier to distribute them evenly over the wreath.

Upcycled Fall Wreath

I used the longest sprigs and worked them in evenly around the wreath.

Upcycled Fall Wreath

I then worked the rest of the leaf sprigs in to cover any bare spots in the wreath.

Upcycled Fall Wreath

I finished it off by evenly working the berries around the inside of the wreath.

If you’re wondering if I used any adhesive to attach the leaf sprigs or berries, I did not – it makes it easier to break the wreath down at the end of the season. If I did need to secure something to the wreath and it wouldn’t hold by just working it in, I would use a tiny bit of hot glue to hold it in place. I say tiny because a little bit of hot glue goes a long way and it is a lot easier to eventually break down the wreath if I don’t have to work out a bunch of hot glue in the process.

Upcycled Fall Wreath

I hung up the wreath up over my chalkboard in my entryway.

That’s it for my upcycled fall wreath! Be sure to check out all the other fabulous Thrifty Style Team projects through the links below!

The leaf sprigs look just like the real thing! I love how you break down the previous year’s seasonal decor to repurpose the following. Very smart, especially when you don’t have a lot of storage, like me. I finally got smart and started doing this too and my closets are thanking me. Your Fall wreath looks beautiful with your seasonal vignette.

The perfect fall wreath! I also love how you styled the little brown glass bottles below it. 🙂

Your fall wreath turned out beautifully and it is wonderful that you were able to create new decor for your home using things that you’ve used in previous years. Florals are so expensive, so it makes sense to break them down, save them, and then use them in a new way the next season.

Michelle, the colors is your wreath against the black background are stunning! I just bought those same leaf stems at HL and created my own version of a repurposed wreath!
