Simple Washcloth Free Crochet Pattern

Super Simple Crochet Washcloth / Dishcloth Pattern

Here’s a crochet pattern I came up with for a washcloth or dishcloth that works up quick and, as the title suggests, is super simple to make.

It’s always nice to have some patterns that are simple and quick to work up when you just want to zone out and crochet on autopilot for the therapeutic effect, or when you need to put together a quick gift like I did. I mean, really, who would not be happy to get something like this for a present?

Here’s the pattern for the soap saver pictured below: Simple Soap Saver Free Crochet Pattern

Finished Size: Approximately 11″ square when flat. It will stretch a bit when being used.

Materials: Medium weight cotton yarn, approximately 150 yards (Brand and color I used here is Lily Sugar ‘n Cream Cotton Yarn in Cool Breeze Ombre) where to buy
Crochet Hook K (6.50 mm)
Scissors
Yarn Needle

I make a small commission at no additional cost to you from purchases made through links on this page. Your purchases through links on this page makes it possible for me to keep blogging and bringing you all the great content you see here on The Painted Hinge! 🙂

Gauge: 6 stitches = 2 inches. Gauge is not important for this pattern; I am providing this information for those who want to check their gauge.

Instructions:

Chain 30; turn.

Row 1: ch 1; sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across; turn (30 s).

Row 2 – 36: ch 1; sc in each sc across; turn (30 s).

Finish Edges: ch 1; sc in each sc across. * ch 1; turn corner; sc in each sc across.* Work instructions between * 3 times. Join with sl st. Weave in ends.

And there you have it- a quick duo for working up a great handmade gift or when you just need a simple pattern for stress relief.

Hi Gloria! I didn’t keep track of the number of rows – I just kept working until the washcloth was square. I intentionally left the part of how many rows open-ended because every person’s gauge is different, and depending on the gauge it might take more or less rows than what I had to get the washcloth to be square. I would measure the washcloth every few rows while you’re working on it (or just eyeball it) and when the length and width are the same, you’re done! 🙂 I hope this helps!
