Lucky 4 Leaf Clover Free Crochet Pattern

The Easiest Shamrock Crochet Pattern Ever  Well hey! 🙂

I love 4 leaf clovers! They’re all about spring and being Irish, both of which I’m a big fan of. And they are super easy, of which I’m a really big fan of.

You can use these as appliques for any project, but what they really come in handy for is pinning on yourself or your loved ones if one of you forgets to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day. There’s always that one annoying person who christen themselves the Pinch Police on St. Patty’s Day to punish all the non-green-wearing heathens. So be prepared! 🙂

If you’re a purist and like the 3 leaf shamrock of clover for St. Patrick’s Day rather than the 4 leaf variety, I’ve gotcha covered: St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Free Crochet Pattern

I’ve included step-by-step pictures below the pattern.

Lucky 4 Leaf Clover Free Crochet Pattern

Materials:
Size I (5.50mm) crochet hook
Scissors
Tapestry or yarn needle
Red Heart Super Saver Yarn where to buy

I make a small commission at no additional cost to you from purchases made through links on this page. Your purchases through links on this page makes it possible for me to keep blogging and bringing you all the great content you see here on The Painted Hinge! 🙂

Abbreviations:
sl st = slip stitch
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
trc = treble crochet st(s) = stitch(es)

Directions:
ch 5; join with sl st to form a loop.
ch 11 out from loop; turn.
sl st 1 in each chain st back towards loop.
sl st 1 in loop.

Round 1:

ch 3; dc 7 in loop, stepping last dc over the top of the stem, join with sl st.

Round 2:
ch 3; 2 trc, 1sc, 2 trc, 1 dc in space under same st.
sl st in space under next st.
*ch 3; 2 trc, 1sc, 2 trc, 1 dc in space under next st.
sl st in space under next st.*- do between * 3 times.
Cut yarn, tie off and weave in ends.

Here’s the step-by-step breakdown. The pictures show the pattern being worked from left to right because I am left handed. This pattern is symmetrical, so it can be worked either left to right or right to left and achieve the same results.
ch 5; join with sl st to form a loop.

      Hi kitt! Let me see if I can help.

      This is not a “stitch” as you call it so I don’t want to confuse you more when I try to explain it. You are still making the stitches as you normally would. The only difference is when you work the the stitches in round 2, instead of grabbing and working into the stitches from round 1, you are reaching completely under the stitches from round 1, in the space between the stitch and the loop you formed to work round 1.

      Does that make sense? If not, let me know and I’ll try to explain it further.

      Just so you know, if you don’t get the “under” part, it will still turn out working the stitches as you know how; it’s just the holes in the clover will not look like the ones you see in the pictures.

      I hope that helps! 🙂

    Hi, thank you very much for the pattern!

    I made one of those little guys for a friend of mine who complained she has been having bad luck. She almost cried when she saw it.

    Are you on Ravelry? This pattern is awesome, super easy to make and the end result is beautiful! If you are not on Ravelry, and not interested on being on it, I would ask you permission to share this pattern there, giving you all the credit for it, of course. Let me know you answer, please.

    Have a beautiful, lucky day! Greeting from Argentina, sends you

    Perla

      Hi Perla! 🙂 I’m glad you like this pattern so much! 🙂

      I am on Ravelry, but I don’t remember if I put this pattern on there. I will check and if it’s not, I will add it. Thank you for offering to do it for me. 🙂

      Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

    Would you be alright if I did a YouTube video on this pattern? I would of course link the website and give credit where it’s due. 🙂

    Thanks

      Hi Katherine! Sure! 🙂 I don’t do them myself because I’m left-handed and I’m afraid I’d get more people jacked up than I would help with it. Send me the link once you have the video up, and if I like it I’ll add it here in the post if that’s okay with you. Thanks!

        No problem… and thanks. I’m actually right handed, but I’m glad that the pattern is symmetrical. 🙂 As soon as I can I’ll do it and I’ll post the link to my video here. Trying to do as many crochet videos as I can because there are some patterns that I love, but for some reason certain ones are confusing until I figure it out. With others the instructions are very clear and I have no issue.

        Can’t wait to do it.

        Thanks Bunches!!!
