Late Summer in the Dining Room

Late Summer in the Dining Room

Hey friends! Summer is coming to an end soon, so I gave it one last hurrah in our dining room before I switch over to fall decor. It’s my contribution to the Summer Celebration Blog Hop hosted by Amber at Follow The Yellow Brick Home!

If you’re coming over from Country Road 407, isn’t Cindy’s summer bedroom refresh gorgeous?

Late Summer in the Dining Room

My sunflowers are on their last blooms right now, but my zinnias are at full peak (that’s one advantage to planting them late). Both work nicely for adding a little pop of color in our dining room.

Late Summer in the Dining Room

This hutch remains one of my favorite makeovers. I love the open shelving as it makes it easy to display decor.

Late Summer in the Dining Room

Can you tell I have a thing for scales?

Late Summer in the Dining Room

I really love how my zinnias look this year! I have a bunch growing that are yellow, orange and red – perfect for fall decorating!

Late Summer in the Dining Room

I made over this dining room set a while back and as much as I love the results, I don’t know if I’ll ever tackle a dining room set makeover again. Painting all those chair spindles is a lot of work!

Late Summer in the Dining Room

Would you believe that before this was a cabinet in the corner of our dining room, my late father used it as a ammo reloader. He was an avid hunter and reloaded his own shotgun shells. It was collecting dust in my mom’s garage before I pulled it out and gave it a makeover.

Do you like my tiered tray? I’m sharing some tiered tray styling tips later in the week so be sure to stop back by!

Next up on the hop is Judith over at Botanic Bleu. You will swoon over her eye-popping lavender table setting!

Here is the complete lineup for the hop!

This is adorable. Your collection of white dishes is amazing. I love the cute chickens and that Ice Cream sign. It’s all so cute.

I love all these different layers of farmhouse goodness Michelle! Your sunflowers and zinnias are amazing. I’ve never tried to grow those before but I love the pops of color they add to your beautiful dining room. I’m definitely going to add them to my list! Hugs, CoCo

I LOVE this dining room Michelle, I think we have the same French Country Chandy. It’s perfect for your space! The Zinnias and Sunflowers are gorgeous, I need to start the larger Zinnias from seed next year, because you can only get the smaller ones here at the garden centers. Love the wonderful colors mixed in with your amazing white ironstone and scales. Plus all the great vintage pieces! Happy rest of Summer!

Thanks so much Debra! I just love my chandy – we both have great taste! 🙂 I always start my zinnias from seed because I can’t ever hardly find them in my local garden centers. But they are super easy to grow from seed. And the best part? You can save the seeds from the flowers and grow them again next year! Happy rest of the summer to you as well!

Michelle, Your summer zinniaz and sunflowers are beautiful. We have a few white zinnias in a spot we only plant white flowers, but the Texas heat is taking a toll on them. Yours look wonderful.

Thanks so much Judith! Zinnias always do really well in my area. I should try to grow a patch of just white zinnias too – they’d be perfect when I want to keep my decor all neutral. Have a wonderful rest of your summer! 🙂

Michelle, can I just come live there with you or a while? I see so many things that make me smile. I would love to sit and chat about where you got them. I simply adore your style and home. It’s so stinkin’ cute!

And I’m so glad I got to see the amazing transformation of the hutch. Love it! Thanks for sharing.

Michelle, I loved seeing that angled shot of your dining room; totally didn’t realize it was open to your kitchen there. And didn’t realize your little coffee bar was there, either. Isn’t it funny how it’s hard to visualize other blogger’s homes, even though we’re seeing them all the time? Love your late summer colors of whites with sunflower gold and black; one of my favorite color combos, too.

Thanks so much Lora! 🙂 I don’t share that angle in our dining room much because our kitchen is well used and usually a disaster! I believe a well used kitchen is the heart of a happy home, but for blogging purposes, not so much! 🙂

Michelle, your dining room looks perfect for late summer! I love your pops of colors with your blooms among the calm neutral backdrop. I could seriously snoop around at all of your lovely vintage farmhousey treasures for hours! There is just so much vintage goodness in this post! I think I must add some sunflowers to a large ironstone pitcher now for our farm table. Thanks for inspiring!

And yes, I love your adorable styled tiered tray. Can’t wait to see the post!

Michelle, I’m so glad to meet you through this blog hop! Your home is lovely with such charming vintage details. I love the story about your late father’s cabinet. I cherish sentimental pieces like that in our home. I’ve thought about refinishing our kitchen table, but you might have convinced me not to do that…sounds like it was a lot of work, though yours turned out great!

Hi Crissy! Very nice to meet you too! I’m happy you like my vintage style – thank you so much! 🙂 The table and chairs were a ton of work (especially the chairs) but it was definitely worth it in the end. I just wished I knew how much time it would take so I could plan better, but it seems projects always take more time than what I think they will 🙂

I can absolutely appreciate the sweat and probably some tears that went behind this immaculate make over. I LOVE ALL OF IT… SO 100% my style. I spend days on one piece and speak to my other self ‘Ms Perfectionism’ and constantly attempt to rebuke her, it works about, 🤔never😇
Can we borrow you for about a month 🙏😂preferred during mental health month!
