A Winter Hutch with a Christmas Village in a Tiered Tray

A Winter Hutch with a Christmas Village in a Tiered Tray

Hey friends! I know that’s a super long title but I couldn’t come up with anything else that sounded good.

A Winter Hutch with a Christmas Village in a Tiered Tray

I painted this hutch a few weeks ago and haven’t had a chance to put the before and after on the blog yet. But I wanted to share with you all how I decorated it for Christmas.

A Winter Hutch with a Christmas Village in a Tiered Tray

This hutch is in our family room filling up one wall that I struggled with decorating for what seems like forever! I was so happy when I found this hutch as it is perfect for the space.

A Winter Hutch with a Christmas Village in a Tiered Tray

Even though it’s a hutch, I wanted to do something different than to fill it with “hutch stuff” and then decorate said stuff for Christmas.

A Winter Hutch with a Christmas Village in a Tiered Tray

Since I just painted it, I hadn’t added any decor yet so it was a fresh canvas to work with.

A Winter Hutch with a Christmas Village in a Tiered Tray

I decided to decorate it with some mercury glass decorations I bought last year, with a few new additions this year from Amazon πŸ™‚ (See the shopping list below!)

A Winter Hutch with a Christmas Village in a Tiered Tray

I used to really struggle with filling tiered trays, but then I learned the secret: use stuff that comes in a set! For example: for Christmas you can use a Christmas village like I did here. You could also use a nativity scene, a ornament set, a cookie cutter set, etc. Search for “Christmas set” on Amazon (or click HERE and I’ll do it for you) and see all the possibilities!

I’m including the Amazon links below for this Christmas village and everything else I used to decorate my hutch.

What color paint and paint company did you use for your hutch?
    Love the color,

Hi Cathy! Thank you so much! πŸ™‚ The color is Linen White by Rust-oleum Chalked paint. I did two coats of paint, then used their antiquing glaze and then their clear glaze to seal it. I plan on posting a tutorial on how I painted it early next year so stay tuned! πŸ™‚

Love the Mark Feldstein & Associates Winter Village Led Tea Light 31 Piece Porcelain Tabletop Christmas Figurine Boxed Set. Can’t seem to find it though. All sold out everywhere. Have any ideas where I can find one? Thank you

Hi Vivian! The only places I’ve seen these are at Amazon and Ikea. Keep checking back as I’m sure they will get them back in stock as we get closer to the holidays.

Hey guys! Thank you so much for all the feedback o Hey guys! Thank you so much for all the feedback on my question on my last post about how long it takes you to get a space (like a hutch) decorated just right. Before I posted, I seriously thought that I was super slow at decorating, but came to find out that it is the norm to work on and off on a space for at least a few days to get it just right. ⁣
⁣
I've always been a big proponent when it comes to not comparing yourself to others when it comes to decorating (or anything really) because it's a great way to get yourself down, and then I go and do it to myself! πŸ€ͺ All that should matter is that you enjoy the decorating process and the end result, not comparing yourself and racing against others. Decorating our homes should never be a competition πŸ’β£
